Rationale

Rationale-Story on White Rabbit song

The song I chose was white rabbit by Jefferson Aeroplane. I interpreted the song as losing control because the lyrics referenced drugs a lot. I decided to then show a person who was in control but then slowly loses control in her dream sequence.

The lyrics I chose were:
“Ask Alice when she was ten feet tall” being about being in control.

“When the men on the chessboard get up and tell you where to go” being about losing control by listening to others.

“When logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead” being about completely Losing control.

It can be read nonlinear though because you can start at any scene and it will not affect the story. So I made a looping animation that has no real ending for my triptych.

After researching about lucid dreams and general dreams I came up with.

One scene is of the person flying and being in control of her dream. Another scene is the buildings start to push the person down and then falls into the sea (she starts to lose control). Another is that the person is being chased by a shark and has to swim up (she has lost control and is being chased).

I used an eagle to symbolise strength in the scenes of her flying to represent her being in control. The shark is used in the last scene as chasing the person to support that she has lost control (something scary chasing her).

The character I decided to use was a character that resembles Alice through her dress because the song references the Alice in wonderland story. She wears different dresses, blue at the start for being calm, black for distress and red for anxious.

The colours of the scenes turn into darker shades of blue to represent the mood of the story getting progressively gloomier.

The scenes have buildings to represent real life because we usually dream about life.
